GoHighLevel Emails Going to Spam? Dedicated Domain, SPF, DKIM & DMARC

October 28, 2026•4 min read

If your GoHighLevel emails land in spam, or Gmail shows a warning next to them, the cause is almost always the sending setup, not the email itself. This guide explains how to set up a dedicated sending domain in GoHighLevel, what SPF, DKIM and DMARC do, and the habits that keep your emails in the inbox.

Why GoHighLevel emails go to spam

  • No dedicated sending domain: emails go out from a shared domain instead of your own, so you have no reputation of your own.

  • Missing or broken DNS records: SPF, DKIM or DMARC are not set up, or were copied with a typo.

  • Sending to old or bought lists: bounces and spam complaints damage your domain's reputation quickly.

  • Spammy content: all-image emails, lots of links, link shorteners or "FREE!!!" subject lines.

  • No easy unsubscribe: people mark you as spam instead.

What SPF, DKIM and DMARC mean

  • SPF tells inbox providers which services are allowed to send email for your domain.

  • DKIM adds a digital signature to each email so providers can check it was not changed and really came from you.

  • DMARC tells providers what to do when an email fails those checks, and sends you reports.

Since 2024, Gmail and Yahoo require senders to authenticate their email, and bulk senders must have SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up, offer one-click unsubscribe and keep spam complaints low. Unauthenticated emails are much more likely to be filtered or rejected.

How to set up a dedicated sending domain in GoHighLevel

  1. Use a subdomain. Send from something like mail.(your domain) rather than your main domain. This protects your main domain's reputation.

  2. Add the domain in GoHighLevel. In the sub-account, open Settings, then Email Services, and add a dedicated sending domain.

  3. Add the DNS records. GoHighLevel shows the exact records to add. Copy them into your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap and so on) exactly as shown.

  4. Verify. Go back to GoHighLevel and verify the domain. DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours.

  5. Add a DMARC record on your root domain if you do not have one. Start with a monitoring policy (p=none), then tighten it once reports look clean.

  6. Set your default "from" name and address to a real person or your business name, on the domain you just verified.

If you send from Gmail or Google Workspace as well, make sure your SPF record covers every service that sends for your domain, and that you only have one SPF record.

Warm up before big sends

A brand new sending domain has no reputation yet. Start with your most engaged contacts (recent customers and leads who opened or replied) and increase volume over a few weeks. Do not send your first email to a 20,000-contact list.

7 habits that keep GoHighLevel emails in the inbox

  1. Only email people who opted in or are recent customers.

  2. Clean your list: remove hard bounces and people who have not opened in months.

  3. Write like a person. Short emails with one main link perform better than heavy designs.

  4. Avoid link shorteners and too many images.

  5. Keep a clear unsubscribe link in every marketing email.

  6. Send at a steady pace rather than huge bursts.

  7. Check your results: opens, clicks, bounces and complaints in GoHighLevel's email stats.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my GoHighLevel emails going to spam?

Most often because there is no dedicated sending domain, SPF, DKIM or DMARC are missing, or emails are sent to an old list that bounces and complains.

Do I need a dedicated sending domain in GoHighLevel?

If you send marketing or follow-up emails regularly, yes. It gives you your own sender reputation and lets you pass Gmail and Yahoo's authentication checks.

Should I use my main domain or a subdomain?

Use a subdomain such as mail.(your domain). If something goes wrong with marketing email, your main domain's reputation is protected.
